Trisha Heinold Trisha Heinold’s talent for balancing artistic air with innovative techniques is the solid foundation upon which she has built her career. An avid trend-spotter, Heinold prides herself on providing clients with fashion-forward cuts and hues to suit their individual personalities—something that’s kept her in demand and helped her build a solid reputation in her community. Never one to rest on her laurels, the Wenatchee, WA-based stylist is constantly on the lookout for inventive techniques and cutting-edge education to propel her skill set into new territories. “I believe I owe it to my clients and my team to make sure I’m at the top of my game,” Heinold says. ✂ —Kelley Donahue AHA MOMENT Hair is one of those things that’s always piqued my interest and curiosity. I’m creative by nature, and have always viewed a beautiful cut or color as a work of art. For me, hair is a blank canvas and this profession is an outlet for my artistic ability. After cosmetology school, I attended classes focusing on management and cutting with Bumble and bumble in New York City and have likewise studied with Dermalogica, Kadus, Vidal Sassoon and Davines. I’ve always placed an incredibly high importance on advanced training. IN TRAINING STYLE PREFERENCES The romantic looks from the 1920s and ’30s are some of my favorites. They epitomize elegance. BEAUTY MUST-HAVES The work and vision of all of the iconic stylists that have paved the way in the industry. What inspires you? My red Vidal Sassoon cutting comb and De ning System Glam Power Spray from Davines—these tools empower me to create endless styling options. MY MENTOR Although I’ve never met him, I’ve long looked up to Vidal Sassoon. His cutting techniques revolutionized our industry, and his journey through hairdressing continues to inspire me. BIGGEST CHALLENGE Even though I’ve been in the industry for 12 years now, I’m still on a quest to seek out inspiration and nurture my artistic talents. Finding the time can be challenging but I don’t ever want to feel stagnant. BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I EVER GOT Someone once told me, “Always have a goal and a plan to accomplish it.” It’s something I try to live by every single day. GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT Professionally, it’s having the ability to share my years of knowledge and experience with new stylists and watch them grow and develop. Personally, it’s raising my beautiful 5-year-old daughter, Jenna, and pushing my limits through running. NEXT STEP I’ve always had an interest in photography, and I’m beginning to explore ways to showcase my work and design through it. I’m also looking for different ways to pay it forward and give to others in this industry. 24 American Salon June 2012
