Bijou Salon In every small town across America, there’s at least one salon that raises the bar for everyone else. Skaneateles, NY (population 2,450) has Bijou Salon. In upstate New York sits the Finger Lakes, a pattern of 11 oblong lakes that attracts visitors from all over the state and beyond. At the eastern gateway of this tourist hub is Skaneateles Lake, and nestled at the northern tip of the body of water is the charming village of Skaneateles. Established in 1833, Skaneateles has a touch of old-world enchantment featuring a historic downtown, distinct boutiques and a truly welcoming atmosphere. Keeping the village’s residents and visitors beautiful is Bijou Salon, a day spa and salon that delivers the ultimate beauty services while offering its clientele a genuinely adorable place to relax and rejuvenate. Throughout 1,300 square feet are chic, yet homey elegances and a warm, cheerful color scheme of lime green, chocolate brown and powder blue. The salon employs 10 stylists—who provide haircuts, color, extensions and styling—as well as nail technicians and estheticians. Kimberly Baker-Bringas, who co-owns Bijou Salon with her husband Thomas-Laurent Bringas, is the lead stylist, and she and her staff ensure all clients leave feeling as wonderful as they look. “We want the client to feel the focus is on them and that nothing else matters,” Baker-Bringas says. “We want them to know there’s no rivalry between stylists and they can go to whomever they want.” With this attitude, clients can truly zone out and feel pampered while receiving quality services that leave them well-coiffed and current. As the owner of a growing salon in a small village— Bijou Salon opened in 2007 and expanded in 2009— Baker-Bringas also finds it important to be involved in the community. The salon partakes in various town events and holds cut-a-thons to raise funds for maintaining a local playground.
