BIG FISH, SMALL POND Dyer & Posta Salon In every small town across America, there’s at least one salon that raises the bar for everyone else. Kennesaw, GA, (population 29,783) has Dyer& Posta Salon. In the railway town of Kennesaw, GA, amongst lush trees, clean streets and modern buildings is the 2,900-acre Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefi eld Park that is a signifi cant reminder of the town’s rich Civil War history. While honoring its past, Kennesaw continuously evolves as a charming town 20 miles outside of Atlanta and has all the necessary establishments of a growing metropolitan area, including a fashion-forward salon to keep residents looking beautiful. Dyer & Posta Salon, named for co-owners Amanda Dyer and Stephen Posta, is the town’s best bet for a salon chock full of individuality, supreme customer service and modern stylings. “We wanted to open a salon here because there just weren’t a lot of places in Kennesaw that did hair the way we wanted to,” Posta says. “We were seeing lots of chunky highlights coming out of some salons; our looks are more updated and modern.” After working together for 15 years at a salon in an adjacent town, the longtime friends merged their complementary styling aesthetics—Posta is edgy, Dyer is natural and subtle—to open Dyer & Posta Salon in 2008. Truly inviting in services and decor, the 1,900-square-foot space is urban and upscale without being pretentious. “We want our clientele to feel relaxed and welcome,” Posta says. The vision encompasses a full range of services, such as cuts, color, hair extensions and the ColoristCure conditioning treatment, as well as a retail selection that includes Moroccanoil, Sojourn, and Dyer and Posta’s own paraben-free haircare line called DAP. An ongoing education program keeps the salon’s 11 stylists’ skills up-to-date. “To stay fashion-forward and current we need to be in a constant state of learning, and by mastering new methods we are able to give our clients a gift on each and every visit,” Posta says. “The results are that they are booked 80 to 90 percent of the time.” The learning is furthered through the salon’s partnership with the Marie Robinson Salon Affi liate Program, a colorist and style curriculum established by the respected New York City-based salon. Posta says he and Dyer owe the salon’s success to the staff because of their individuality and drive to succeed. Giving back to the community through fundraisers, participating in art and fashion shows and holding special events like Metro Nights for the local college students were ideas originated by staff members. Says Posta, “Amanda and I wouldn’t have this salon if it weren’t for the stylists; the way this place runs is because of them.” ✂ —Jolene Turner IN STOCK: DAP, Moroccanoil, Osyrium, Ref, Sojourn 50 American Salon May 2012 FROMTOP: A stacked stonewall at reception; the styling roomfeatures neutral colors and full-length mirrors; large windows allow for natural light; concrete floors and pops of red throughout lend a chic, city vibe.
